The White Hart Lane boss has seen Tottenham’s summer signings Roberto Soldado and Erik Lamela struggle for form and appears ready to dig deep to bring in yet another striking option in the form of Bosnian marksman Dzeko.

Tottenham spent over £50m on Soldado and Lamela, who have between them scored just one goal from open play in the Premier League, and are ready to offload both Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor in order to make room for a new addition in January.

Dzeko has struggled to retain a regular foothold in the Man City starting eleven ever since his £27m move to the Etihad Stadium back in January 2011.

The former Wolfsburg man may have hoped that with both Mario Balotelli and Carlos Tevez moving to Serie A that he would have a better chance of securing a starting spot more regularly under new boss Manuel Pellegrini but the Chilean then opted to sign both Alvaro Negredo and Stevan Jovetic.

Dzeko has been a regular scorer for Man City, netting 47 goals in 126 appearances, a strike rate that is all the more impressive when you consider that 53 of those appearances were from the bench.
