The agent of mercurial Liverpool front man Luis Suarez is set to fly to Merseyside before the end of the year in order to discuss a possible contract extension for the Uruguayan attacker, according to reports in the Sunday Mirror.

The striker is currently enjoying a sensational campaign in front of goal for the in-form Premier League side, with Suarez having so far managed to register an impressive 15 goals and five assists in total in just his 10 Premier League matches since returning from a 10-game ban for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic on the arm in a league meeting at Anfield last April.

And despite having attempted to engineer a move away from the Reds last summer, Suarez is now set to complete a remarkable transformation in his Liverpool career by captaining the top-flight giants in their clash with Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon in the absence of injured skipper Steven Gerrard.

Meanwhile, the Uruguay international’s agent, Pere Guardiola, is now set for face-to-face talks with the Liverpool hierarchy before the end of this month over the terms of a new deal for his client, with the brother of Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola understood to be seeking a raise in Suarez’s current £120,000-per-week salary should he manage to guide the club into next season’s Uefa Champions League.

However, it is also believed that Liverpool will in turn demand to increase the size of the release clause in the 26-year-old’s contract as both La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid and FC Barcelona prepare to launch big-money offers for Suarez next summer.
