Now that Andre Villas-Boas has been relieved of his duties at White Heart Lane, the club will be stepping up their search for a new manager over the coming weeks and the former Swiss international has now emerged as a strong candidate to take the hotseat.
The 39-year-old has earned rave reviews this season after leading the club to the Swiss title in his debut season last year as well as masterminding two unprecedented victories over Chelsea in their Champions League campaign this time around.
Italian clubs AC Milan and Lazio have both been linked with his services lately, but it is now Spurs who are thought to be at the head of the queue to land his signature.
Meanwhile, Spurs are also hoping to be able to bring highly-rated Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah from the club when the transfer window re-opens in January.
The wide man has been trailed by a number of sides this season, including Serie A champions Juventus, but the north London outfit are hoping that he will follow his manager to White Heart Lane should he decide to take over.
