Madrid skipper is desperate to quit the Spanish capital next month.

Premier League duo Arsenal and Manchester City have both been contacted by the representative of out-of-favour Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas about the possibility of taking the experienced Spanish shot stopper on loan when the winter transfer window opens again for business in the new year, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.

The 32-year-old has once again found himself mainly warming the substitutes’ bench so far this season under new los Blancos head coach Carlo Ancelotti, with Casillas’s only starts to date coming in the La Liga giants’ Uefa Champions League group-phase matches.

And it is that lack of game time in the league that is understood to be concerning the Spain international ahead of next summer’s World Cup finals in Brazil, a tournament in which La Roja are of course the defending champions, so much so that it is understood that Casillas’s agent has recently been touting his client around to both the north London club and the mega-rich north-west outfit.

However, it seems unlikely that the Gunners would be in the market for a new keeper, what with young Pole Wojciech Szczesny having recently agreed a new long-term deal at the Emirates, while also producing his best run of form for the club so far in this campaign.

But City, on the other hand, are known to be currently on the look-out for a new No 1 and so could be interested in the player.
