Premier League giants Chelsea are planning on making a move for prolific Atletico de Madrid front man Diego Costa when the winter transfer window opens again for business in the new year, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

The west London club having been struggling badly for goals from their main strikers all campaign long, with the likes of Fernando Torres, Demba Ba and Samuel Eto’o having netted just five times between them in the Premier League so far this season.

And now as a result, it is understood that Blues head coach Jose Mourinho has finally lost patience with his trio of misfiring attackers, with the self-styled Special One now eyeing up a move for Atleti’s in-form forward instead next month in order to solve his problems up front.

The recently called-up Spain international is currently enjoying a red-hot campaign in front of goal for Diego Simeone’s high-flying La Liga outfit, with Costa having so far managed to register an eye-catching 21 goals and three assists in total in just his 21 matches in all competitions for the Spanish giants, including an equally impressive 17 strikes and two assists in his 16 league outings for the club.

However, having recently signed a new contract until June 2018, it will not be either easy or cheap for Chelsea to land the player in January though.
