Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira has put an end to the speculation surrounding his future by agreeing a new contract extension with the club, the Daily Star reports.

The German international has been linked with a move to the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea next summer. Khedira is likely to miss out on the rest of the season thanks to a knee ligament injury sustained last month and he now faces a race to be fit for next summer’s World Cup.

However, that has not been enough to deter the Spanish giants from offering him a three-year extension on his current deal, which expires in 2015.

United boss David Moyes had been keen to bring him to Old Trafford in the new year after failing to win his signature over the summer, whilst Arsenal and Chelsea had also been monitoring his progress with the view to making a move in January, but their ambitions were quashed by his sudden injury.

Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti was thought to be reluctant to let him leave after selling fellow German international midfielder Mesut Ozil to Arsenal on the final day of the summer window.
