The mercurial Uruguay international is currently enjoying a sensational campaign in front of goal for the high-flying Premier League outfit, so much so that Reds managing director Ian Ayre even flew out to Spain to enter into face-to-face talks with Suarez’s agent, Pere Guardiola, about extending the striker’s stay at Anfield beyond the end of his current deal.

However, that latest development does not appear to have ended los Blancos’ long-running interest in Suarez, with recent reports in Spain suggesting that the club will renew their efforts to lure the 26-year-old from Merseyside to the Santiago Bernabeu next summer.

Suarez’s current contract with the Reds runs until June 30 2016 after the coveted player agreed an extension last year, but with Liverpool’s American owners believed to now be prepared to double the South American’s present weekly salary to a whopping £200,000, which would make the forward one of the highest paid players both in the Premier League, as well as on the Continent, the club are said to be extremely hopeful of keeping hold of their star man in the long term.
