Stamford Bridge side set to welcome in Colombian.
Chelsea are reportedly set to seal a deal to sign Inter Milan midfielder Fredy Guarin according to ESPN.
The 27 year old is apparently on his way to Stamford Bridge in a deal that would cost the West London club around £15m with the Colombian also being targeted by Man United and Tottenham.
The playmaker is expected to move to Chelsea in the next few days with the player’s agent confirming Jose Mourinho’s interest in his client, stating;
“I can confirm Chelsea’s interest in Fredy, and it’s now up to the clubs to discuss a deal. We’ll open talks once they have agreed terms.
“We have already been to London with Inter and met with Chelsea directors to make their interest formal.
“There have been talks as part of negotiations. If both clubs reach an agreement, a transfer is an option — but Fredy is happy at Inter as well if they don’t agree terms.”
The former FC Porto man can play across the midfield and in wide attacking roles and during his time in Portugal Guarin guided the Estadio Dragao side to three Primeira Liga titles and a Europa League triumph which led to a high profile move to Inter Milan.
With the likes of John Obi Mikel, Kevin de Bruyne and Willian struggling to make an impact Guarin could help provide strength in depth in a number of roles and is not cup tied from Champions League involvement.
