Arsenal are readying an ambitious move to sign Real Madrid pair Iker Casillas and Alvaro Morata according to the Daily Star.
Arsene Wenger is looking to invest in his Gunners squad as he looks to bring an end to a lengthy silverware drought and has requested funds from his Emirates Stadium board to make a move for the Bernabeu duo.
For the most part Polish international Wojciech Szczesny has proved effective between the sticks though Arsenal did of course ship in six goals against Man City last weekend, and Wenger wants to bring in World Cup winner Casillas to challenge for the starting spot.
The hugely experienced keeper hasn’t played a single minute of La Liga action this season, in fact amazingly Casillas’s last domestic league appearance was way back in January, and as such must be considering his options with the 2014 World Cup finals around the corner and may be tempted by a possible move to North London.
21 year old Spanish forward Morata has also been rarely used this season but has managed to score two La Liga goals despite starting just one fixture and could be a useful addition to boost the Arsenal attack with Wenger depending heavily on Olivier Giroud, who has scored in only one of his last ten games for the club.
