David Moyes has seen his side struggle for consistency this season and a number of injuries suffered in recent weeks have left the Scot keen to strengthen his squad and the former Everton boss has earmarked moves for a trio of top talents.

With Rio Ferdinand set to be out of contract next summer and with Nemanja Vidic struggling with injury concerns Moyes will look to bring in another central defender and chief among his targets in this regard if FC Porto’s Eliaquim Mangala.

The Primeira Liga side may well be ready to consider January offers for the 22 year old French international in view of the fact that they have been unable to book a place in the last 16 of the Champions League and may need to balance the books as a result.

Another Man United veteran, left-back Patrice Evra, is also likely to leave in the summer when his contract runs out and this will lead to Moyes once again looking to sign his former Goodison Park charge Leighton Baines.

The 28 year old is currently sidelined but this may well have worked in Man United’s favour as it has led to Costa Rican Bryan Oviedo manfully filling the left-back berth, which could lead Toffees boss Roberto Martinez to believe he can consider the possibility of selling Baines in January.

Moyes will also look to freshen up his midfield with Atletico Madrid youngster Koke being a £15m target for the Premier League title holders.
