Flyer’s release clause in his Barca contract is worth a whopping £125 million.
Premier League duo Arsenal and Liverpool are both said to be keeping close tabs on coveted FC Barcelona wide man Pedro as doubts continue to surround the Spaniard’s long-term future at Camp Nou, according to reports in the Daily Express.
The Spain international has struggled to nail down a regular starting berth in the La Liga champions’ lineup of late and despite Pedro managing to register a brilliant hat-trick in the Catalans’ come-from-behind league win at Getafe on Sunday night, there are still huge question marks over whether the player will be at the club come this time next season.
Pedro, 26, has been with the Spanish giants for his whole career to date, making his debut for the club back in the 2008-09 campaign under then head coach Pep Guardiola.
And in the intervening period, the skilful winger has gone on to find the back of the net on 82 occasions in total in just 240 matches in all competitions for Barcelona, including an equally impressive 47 strikes in 148 La Liga outings for the club.
However, with a contract in Catalunya that currently runs until June 2016, this summer could very well be the time when Pedro does decide to think about what his future options are.
“I am happy with Barcelona, but things have to be evaluated every season,” he said.
“My goal is to try and stay at this club where I feel very valued and loved.
“When you play less you do not feel less important, but it is true that you notice playing fewer minutes and it is different.
“But I must fight for my only goal, which is to continue with Barca.”
