Long-running Chelsea target Fredy Guarin has revealed that his agent has spoken to Blues head coach Jose Mourinho about a possible move to Stamford Bridge when the winter transfer window opens again for business in the new year, but that he now wants to stay at San Siro after all, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.

The highly rated Colombia international has been heavily linked with a move to the west London club in recent weeks, with the player’s representative having even flown to the capital last week in order to take part in face-to-face discussions with the Uefa Europa League holders regarding the purchase of his client next month.

However, even though Guarin has now confirmed that these talks did take place, the attacking midfield player has also stated that he is happy with current life at the Serie A giants.

“I haven’t spoken to Mourinho. My agent has done that,” said Guarin.

“I hope that Inter are thinking about how much I really want to stay here.

“There is something going on, I can definitely not deny that.

“But now I focus only on Inter and to do well here, we’ll see in the future.”

Meanwhile, further doubt has also now been thrown on the South American’s much talked-about move to Chelsea after Inter’s new owner, Erick Thohir, claimed that the Nerazzurri were keen to keep hold of the 27-year-old at San Siro following the player’s eye-catching display in Sunday night’s Milan derby, which Inter won 1-0.

“[Guarin] was one of the best players today and I will raise the matter with the coach and sports director, if we should let him leave or not, but we must build a better Inter,” Thohir told Rai2.

And when Inter coach Walter Mazzarri was asked about Guarin’s departure from the club in his post-match press conference, he said unequivocally: “Have we already sold Guarin? Who to?”

“That’s something you need to ask the club. Besides, the transfer window isn’t even open yet. We’ll take stock of things after this game.

“Could Lavezzi join if Guarin leaves? I don’t like playing along with these games. Guarin is improving a lot and he’s had a great season so far.”
