Emirates Stadium side look to lure Bundesliga goal machine to North London.
Arsenal are readying a bid to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski in next month’s transfer window.
CaughtOffside understands that Arsene Wenger has received the financial backing of his Emirates Stadium board to launch a €20m (£16.75m) bid for the 25 year old in January.
The Polish international is set to be out of contract next summer and Wenger hopes that a big money offer in the January transfer window would be preferable to the possibility of seeing Lewandowski secure a free transfer move to domestic rival Bayern Munich.
Wenger is desperate to bring in attacking reinforcements and wants to do so next month in order to support his push to secure a first Premier League title in a decade.
Jurgen Klopp would be loathed to lose Lewandowski but given that Borussia Dortmund are now some 12 points off seemingly unbeatable Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga title race and now down to fourth in the table then the chance to cash in on the former Lech Poznan man may now prove a viable option to consider.

Lewandowski has been in fine form this term despite Borussia Dortmund’s struggles, netting 16 goals in 24 appearances in all competitions.
Arsenal have been heavily reliant on Olivier Giroud to lead their attack this term and that pressure has perhaps begun to take it’s toll with the French international scoring just two goals in his last 12 appearances after starting the season brightly.
Lukas Podolski has been out injured for much of the season and Nicklas Bendtner is not seen as an able first team performer and is only still at the club due to a lack of options in Wenger’s striking armoury.
