Stamford Bridge boss plans White Hart Lane raid.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is readying a shock move to lure Tottenham pair Paulinho and Vlad Chiriches to Stamford Bridge.
CaughtOffside understands that Mourinho will look to take advantage of any uncertainty at White Hart Lane following the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas by making a move for the duo, who both arrived during the North London club’s summer spending spree.
Mourinho is known to be a big admirer of Brazilian midfielder Paulinho and is keen to bring in the 25 year old as a preferable option to current central midfield options John Obi Mikel and Michael Essien. The Chelsea manager is also willing to sell Spanish youngster Oriol Romeu, who is currently out on loan at Valencia.
Paulinho cost Tottenham £17m and Chelsea are willing to offer £20m for his services and will hope that the midfielder will be encouraged to force the issue by handing in a transfer request.
Mourinho is also keen on signing Romanian international Chiriches as he seeks to bring in a long term replacement for veteran defender John Terry.
The former Steaua Bucharest man was strongly linked with a move to Chelsea prior to his £8.5m move to Tottenham in August.
Chiriches has looked a very able performer since moving to Tottenham with the North London club racking up eight clean sheets in the dozen matches he has started in all competitions.
The Chelsea boss is also said to be ready to consider offers for Brazilian David Luiz, which would leave even more scope for a central defensive addition with Mourinho ready to offer £15m for the talented Tottenham defender.
Jose Mourinho is keen to strengthen his squad in January and hopes to put his stamp on the squad he inherited from interim boss Rafa Benitez.
