QPR are reportedly set to sign Newcastle United defender Steven Taylor according to the Daily Express.

Loftus Road boss Harry Redknapp is ready to offer £2m for the 27 year old though the Magpies want £5m for the centre-back, there may well be scope for negotiation that could lead to the St James’ Park man joining the Super Hoops as they push for an immediate return to the top flight.

Taylor has started just one Premier League fixture this season and could well be keen on a move to QPR which could revive his career.

The former Newcastle United captain was called up to the England set-up in March but has been frozen out of Alan Pardew’s starting eleven this season.

QPR currently sit second in the Championship and have the best defensive record in the division having conceded just 11 goals in 21 fixtures.
