The north Londoners are currently joint top of the Premier League standings alongside Liverpool as they approach the halfway point of the campaign, while the Gunners have also successfully qualified from their group of death in the Uefa Champions League to make it through to the knockout phase of Europe’s premier club competition, which gets back under way in February.

However, it is also understood that veteran head coach Arsene Wenger is currently concerned about his lack of options up front at the Emirates for the second half of this season, with the Frenchman only able to call upon the services of lone striker Olivier Giroud in the capital.

And despite the France international’s so far brilliant form in front of goal in this campaign, Wenger fears that the forward may soon suffer from burn out, especially as the Gunners fight to end their long nine-year wait for silverware on three different fronts after Christmas, which is why the manager is keen to land the Belgium Under-21 international in next month’s window.
