Frenchman even suffered two broken legs in the space of just a year playing for the club.

Premier League leaders Arsenal have been left stunned by the news that long-term defender Bacary Sagna is ready to quit the north London club when his contract expires at the end of this season, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.

The highly rated France international has been offered a new two-year deal to stay at the Emirates on the same £70,000-per-week salary that he is currently on, however, Sagna is believed to be wanting a four-year contract, and on better terms too after six year of loyal service to the Gunners.

Sagna has even turned down the chance to follow former team-mates such as front man Emmanuel Adebayor, midfield player Samir Nasri and centre-back Kolo Toure in making a highly lucrative move to mega-rich Premier League rivals Manchester City in the past.

Meanwhile, the 30-year-old was also said to be disappointed after being overlooked for the club captaincy when striker Robin van Persie left the capital to join Manchester United, with Belgium Thomas Vermaelen being handed the armband instead.

And now with big-money offers on the table from the likes of Ligue 1 duo AS Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain, the Middle East and an unnamed club in Turkey, who are understood to be offering the right back a four-year deal on terms that Arsenal can never imagine to match, it is expected that the player will quit the club next summer.
