Liverpool To Loan Daniel Agger To Napoli In January Ahead Of £8m Move To Naples Next Summer

Dane has largely been warming the substitutes’ bench on Merseyside in this campaign to date.

Liverpool head coach Brendan Rodgers is prepared to loan vice-captain Daniel Agger to Serie A outfit Napoli when the winter transfer window opens again for business next week ahead of the defender making a permanent £8 million move to Southern Italy at the end of this season, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.

The highly rated Denmark international has mainly found himself surplus to requirements at Anfield under the Northern Irishman so far in this campaign, with Rodgers preferring to utilise the likes of Kolo Toure, Martin Skrtel and recent new big-money signing Mamadou Sakho at the back instead.

And even though the Merseyside giants have previously turned down offers in the region of £25m for Agger from the likes of both mega-rich Premier League rivals Manchester City and La Liga champions FC Barcelona, Rodgers is now prepared to offload the centre back when the January transfer window reopens next month.

However, before allowing the central defender to move to Naples on an initial six-month loan deal, Rodgers wants to first find a suitable defensive replacement for the 29-year-old, which the Reds boss will attempt to do at the turn of the year.
