Liverpool are reportedly pushing onwards with efforts to bring in two creative attackers as Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers looks to strengthen his squad in January according to the Daily Mirror.

FC Basel winger Mohamed Salah is seemingly close to sealing a £7m move to the Merseyside club and Rodgers continues to pursue in-form Sevilla flair player Ivan Rakitic.

21 year old Egyptian Salah has been in fine form at Swiss side FC Basel, scoring in two matches against Chelsea, and has made it clear he is interested in a move to Liverpool and a deal worth £7m is said to be close to completion.

Salah can play in a central striking role but is more commonly used as a wide attacker and is perhaps a target given he average form displayed by loaned in Chelsea man Victor Moses.

A move for Croatian international Rakitic may cost Liverpool more, with a number of sides said to be keen on the La Liga star.

The 25 year old is into his fourth season at Sevilla and has racked up seven goals and six assists thus far this term and his club continue to have financial problems despite the sales of a number of their top talents over the summer with the likes of Alvaro Negredo, Jesus Navas, Gary Medel and Antonio Luna joining Premier League sides.

Indeed Liverpool brought in youngster Luis Alberto from the Andalusian side in June and may be confident of repeating the trick.
