Jose Mourinho has been exasperated at the lack of cutting edge offered by his current compliment of strikers, with Demba Ba, Fernando Torres and Samuel Eto’o scoring just five Premier League goals between them, so it’s no surprise that the Blues boss would be taking a look at potential January additions to boost his attack.
Interest in Higuain is also not all that surprising but it seems that Napoli boss Rafa Benitez will not allow the Argentine to leave ‘on the cheap’ having only signed the former Real Madrid man for a big fee over the summer.
The 26 year old has scored 13 goals in 21 appearances in all competitions but could perhaps be tempted by a move to reunite with his former Bernabeu boss.
Benitez is known to be a big admirer of Brazilian defender Luiz and given that the former Benfica man has been something of a bit-part player at Stamford Bridge this season it is perhaps wise to attempt to include the Chelsea fan favourite as part of any potential deal to allow Higuain to move to West London.
