The England man has dealt the first blow to David Moyes’ winter transfer plans as he looks to shake up his squad in the new year after struggling to get out of second gear since taking over from Sir Alex Ferguson over the summer.

Lallana had been identified as a target for the Scot after his performances this term have earned him rave reviews as well as his first England cap, and he has now put himself firmly in the frame to make Roy Hodgson’s squad to make it to Brazil for next summer’s World Cup.

However, despite the lure of Champions League football, Lallana has insisted that he is happy and settled at Southampton and is not looking to leave anytime soon.

“I can’t express how happy I am at the club. I am so settled. Settled at home with a young child and my family live down here,” Lallana said.

“I don’t think I am too comfortable either, I get challenged week in week out playing in the Premier League. It is where you want to be as a player.

“I learnt my trade in League One and the Championship and feel I have grown with the club.

“I am delighted and as happy as I have ever been here playing for Southampton with one of the best managers in the league.

“I have been here nearly 13 and-a-half years.”
