Southampton are bracing themselves for genuine interest in a number of their top talents with Chelsea keen on landing left-back Luke Shaw and midfielder Adam Lallana according to the Daily Mail.

Jose Mourinho has been strongly linked with a move for teenager Shaw and sees the Saints youngster as a long term replacement for veteran Ashley Cole, who has been frozen out of first team action for much of the past couple of months.

Shaw has been in fine form this term and is now a first team regular under boss Mauricio Pochettino and has already been capped at England Under 21 level and is no doubt happy to hear of interest from the club he supports but one imagines the South Coast side will demand a big fee for a player of such obvious potential.

Lallana’s good form has led to an England call-up and now links with moves to sides at the top end of the table and now into his eighth season at St Mary’s he may well be tempted by a move to Chelsea and the chance to compete at the highest level.

Mourinho may see Lallana as a long term replacement for Frank Lampard and there is no doubt that the 25 year old has proven himself at Premier League level and could be an intelligent player to consider bringing to Stamford Bridge.

Southampton forwards Jay Rodriguez and Rickie Lambert are also being strongly linked with exits and Pochettino may well see the success his side have achieved this term could in the end lead to departures next month.
