Newly appointed Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood is keen to make West Ham youngster Ravel Morrison the first signing of his White Hart Lane tenure.

CaughtOffside understands that Spurs are ready to make a £10m offer for the England Under 21 international which would trigger the former Man United man’s release clause which would leave the Hammers having to consider such an offer or face the prospect of having to quadruple the player’s current £15k a week salary, as per the conditions inserted in his Upton Park contract.

Sherwood is an admirer of the 20 year old, who’s best display of the current campaign arguably came in West Ham’s 3-0 win over Tottenham back in October, during which the midfielder scored a stunning solo goal.

Though Tottenham have a surfeit of central midfielders they arguably lack effective creative talents in the position, with Christian Eriksen perhaps being the exception, and there is a fair chance that Sherwood will consider trimming his options to make room for potential additions.

Morrison has started 12 of West Ham’s 19 Premier League fixtures this season and has been one of the few bright spots of an otherwise poor season for the East London club, form that could well lead to a possible spot in Roy Hodgson’s 2014 World Cup finals squad, such has been the quality of his displays.

A move to Tottenham may tempt Morrison and a £10m offer may well be considered by West Ham as a chance to make a good profit on the player.
