The Anfield side have had an excellent season thus far but may feel the need to bring in a few signings to help secure that all important coveted Champions League berth and indeed perhaps to mount a genuine Premier League title push.

Rodgers wants to bring in FC Basel winger Mohamed Salah to help beef up his attack, which given the poor form shown by Victor Moses and Iago Aspas would be a sensible addition to make in January.

A harder nut to crack could come in the form of Sevilla midfielder Ivan Rakitic, the Croatian has been in excellent form this season, scoring seven goals and six assists in La Liga action alone.

A move for the 25 year old won’t come cheap though Sevilla have well documented financial problems, which led to the sale of a number of top talents over the summer with the likes of Alvaro Negredo, Gary Medel, Luis Alberto and Jesus Navas all leaving the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán.

Brendan Rodgers is also planning a move to sign Barcelona full-back Martin Montoya as he seeks to deal with consistent injury concerns that have seen Jose Enrique, Aly Cissokho and Glen Johnson all spending time out on the sidelines this term.
