The 23-year-old has emerged on the manager’s radar as he desperately seeks new bodies to come in over the new year to add cover and boost the quality of his injury ravaged side.

And whilst a new full-back is an obvious target, the need for another natural defensive midfielder has also emerged as a huge priority and Agyemang-Badu has appeared at the top of Rodgers’ list.

The Ghanaian international has been recommended to the Anfield boss by his team of European scouts, and has been encouraged by news that he would be very open to sealing a move to the Premier League and will now line up a £7m bid to secure his services.

Agyemang-Badu can play both in midfield and at the back and it is his versatility, as well as his aggressive playing style, that has convinced Rodgers that he is worth the outlay.

Premier League rivals Arsenal and Spurs had both been scouting the player, but Liverpool are the most likely to follow up their interest ahead of the north London duo.
