The Belgian international has not made the impact that many had hoped for since arriving back from Werder Bremen last term and has been trailed by a number of Bundesliga sides, as well as Atletico Madrid, ever since.

Jose Mourinho held high hopes for the 22-year-old, and has even blamed himself for the player’s lack of inclusion, having not featured him since the end of September.

De Bruyne’s agent, Patrick De Koster, had been angling for talks with the Stamford Bridge outfit before the Christmas period in order to sort out the player’s future, but he has since ruled out a move to Italy for his client.

“Italy? Personally I’m not sure that would be the best solution,” he said.

“Juventus? I have been contacted by agents who told me that they worked for Juventus but no official from Juventus has had direct contact with me.

“So I cannot confirm they are interested in the player.”
