Top of the table Arsenal face the very real possibility of having to field a severely weakened starting eleven for their New Year’s Day fixture with Cardiff City according to the Daily Star.

Having picked up back to back wins from recent trips to West Ham and Newcastle United Wenger will hope to keep up their push for a long awaited Premier League title as they host manager-less Cardiff City but will have to do so with a fair few of his top talents sidelined.

Aaron Ramsey is out for three weeks with a thigh injury, Mesut Ozil is sidelined with a shoulder problem, Kieran Gibbs and Olivier Giroud are set to be out following injuries sustained during Arsenal’s win over the Magpgies.

Nacho Monreal and Thomas Vermaelen are struggling with illness whilst Tomas Rosicky (calf), Theo Walcott (shoulder) and Jack Wilshere (ankle) are also doubts and will be assessed later today.

On the issue of an injury crisis Wenger has stated;

“We have plenty of injury problems.

“It will be more a medical chance to see who is available than a training session today.

“We have to see how I can balance the team and consider who else is out and how I can get a balanced team out there.”
