With long term Old Trafford regular Patrice Evra seemingly set to leave the club next summer it seems there is no shortage of left-back targets on the club’s radar, with David Moyes not keen on considering Alexander Buttner as a possible option.
The likes of Real Madrid’s Fabio Coentrao, Sevilla youngster Alberto Moreno and most prominently Everton’s Leighton Baines are all said to be players Moyes has considered but this source believes that the Scot will give up on his former Goodison Park charge and make a big money offer for teenager Shaw.
Shaw, who has already been capped at England Under 21 level, is tied down to a long term Saints contract but would surely be tempted by a high-profile move, especially to a club that can guarantee a solid run of regular first team football.
Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino would be loathed to lose Shaw though clearly the South Coast side have chosen to cash in on star performers in recent seasons with the likes of Gareth Bale, Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all being sold.
18 year old Shaw has started 16 out of Southampton’s 19 Premier League fixtures this season.
