The 21-year-old has only featured six times for the Milanese giants this term after joining from fellow Serie A side Parma over the summer, and has reportedly asked the club to be allowed to move in order to secure more first team football ahead of his country’s World Cup campaign next summer.

Inter director Piero Ausilio was in London for talks with the Hammers over Belfodil on December 28, and it has since been confirmed that the former Lyon striker is a target for manager Sam Allardyce.

However, it has yet to be decided whether the deal will be a short term arrangement or a permanent transfer as the club are still keen to keep hold of him despite failing to find the back of the net yet.

Belfodil joined Inter in a deal worth €7.5m and put pen-to-paper on a contract until 2018.
