The Merseysiders have been heavily linked with the highly rated Egypt international for some time, with recent stories in the player’s homeland even claiming that Salah was due at the club’s Melwood training ground at some point this week to undergo a medical and discuss terms on a five-year deal with the Reds.

However, while officials from Liverpool have admitted that they have entered into negotiations with Basel for the winger known as the ‘Egyptian Messi’ back in his own country, reports that the club have already agreed a £7 million deal for the 21-year-old are said to be way wide of the mark though.

And despite the fact that a whole host of other rival clubs are also understood to be keen on landing Salah in this month’s transfer window, including both top-flight giants Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea, it is believed that Liverpool themselves are in no particular hurry to sign the youngster in January.
