Talismanic striker set for bench against Spurs.
Manchester United striker Robin Van Persie is set to hand a massive boost to the defending champions by making it onto the bench for the club’s New Year’s Day clash against Tottenham Hotspur, according to Sports Direct News.

The Dutch international had been struggling to shake off a thigh injury and was not expected to be back in action until mid January.
However, sources close to the club believe that both he and fellow striker Wayne Rooney, who both missed out on the club’s 1-0 victory over Norwich City at the weekend, could be involved in the visit of Spurs.
“Wayne is almost certain to feature,” said the source. “Robin would be much more of a gamble at this stage, but he has made major progress and there is a chance he might be on the bench.”
United’s results have picked up in December and have found themselves being considered as title contenders once again, so having a fully fit strike force back at their disposal will come as most welcome news.
United and Spurs have already faced each other this season, with both sides battling it out to a 2-2 draw.
