Man United will look to pull off a major January transfer window coup as David Moyes pushes to bring in quality additions this month to help get his debut season in charge of the Old Trafford side back on track.

CaughtOffside understands that Moyes will launch a bid for Real Madrid duo Fabio Coentrao and Angel Di Maria, two players that Carlo Ancelotti may consider offers for as he in turn seeks to boost his own transfer funds having been told by his Bernabeu board that in order to finance further additions this season he will have to trim his expansive squad.

Ancelotti spent over £130m on summer signings and though he managed to balance that outlay with several player sales the Italian will have to sell before he can buy.

Man United attempted to bring in 25 year old Portuguese left-back Coentrao on summer transfer deadline day but failed to convince Ancelotti to sell but the former Benfica man has not only been made available for interested parties but also could be sold for as little as £12.5m, half the fee the Spanish giants paid for the attack minded defender, and it’s a price that Moyes is ready to pay.

The former Everton boss has apparently given up hope of luring Leighton Baines to Man United and will instead turn his attentions to Coentrao, who Moyes will look to replace exit bound French veteran Patrice Evra, who is set to leave the club in the summer when his contract ends.

David Moyes will also look to tempt Argentine winger Di Maria to Old Trafford with the promise of regular first team football that the 25 year old will struggle to retain at Real Madrid.

Carlo Ancelotti will find it hard to use Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale AND Angel Di Maria in the same starting eleven and as such the talented wide-man may well be considering his options.

Di Maria has started two of Real Madrid’s last five La Liga fixtures, with Gareth Bale beginning to make a real impact following his record breaking move to the Spanish capital. David Moyes has not been impressed by the inconsistent displays put in by wingers Nani, Luis Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young and is ready to table an opening £20m bid in January.

Though neither player would be available for Champions League action Moyes is still keen to sign the duo as he seeks to garner a crucial top four finish, now considered the very least the Scottish boss must achieve this season.
