Manchester United are interested in signing Inter Milan midfielder Freddy Guarin but the midfielder favours a move to Chelsea, according to Goal.com.
Red Devils boss David Moyes is desperate to add midfield reinforcements to his squad in January and the Scot has been linked with a host of players including Atletico Madrid’s Koke and Guarin.
However, it is understood Guarin prefers a move to United’s Premier League rivals Chelsea and negotiations between the clubs are already at an advanced stage.
If the Red Devils miss out on the Colombian international, it would be another major blow for Moyes, who tried and failed to sign Ander Herrera, Cesc Fabregas and Thiago Alacantara in the summer.
Inter directors Piero Ausilio and Marco Branca were reportedly in London last week to thrash out a deal with Chelsea but the two clubs remain some way apart in their valuation of Guarin.
United, who have lost four out of ten home league games this season and trail leaders Arsenal by 11 points, finished Wednesday’s defeat against Tottenham with Wayne Rooney and Shinji Kagawa in central midfield.
