Though Jose Mourinho has set his sights on more high profile potential additions his efforts to bring in the likes of Radamel Falcao, Robert Lewandowski and Diego Costa have all thus far failed to bear fruit and now the Stamford Bridge boss is ready to turn to the Etihad Stadium forward.

Chelsea see the 27 year old as a ‘cheaper option’ and is perhaps a short term stop gap to help rectify the fact that the Blues have no prolific forward to turn to in their current squad.

Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba have all failed to score anywhere near regularly enough and as such Mourinho has had to rely upon his creative midfielders to weigh in with more than their fair share of goals.

Though Bosnian Dzeko has struggled to retain a place in the Man City starting eleven for pretty much his entire four years at the club he has nonetheless scored regularly when called upon.

The former Wolfsburg man, who cost Man City £27m, has scored 50 goals in 131 appearances for the Premier League side, a stat that is all the more impressive when you take into account 54 of those appearances came from the bench.
