The Old Trafford side have sent a delegation to Madrid to push forward with a deal to sign £30m rated Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke with David Moyes desperate to bring in fresh creative midfield additions in the January transfer window.

Moyes scouted Koke himself in recent weeks and will hope to convince the Spanish international to move to the Premier League title holders, perhaps being able to offer a big pay-rise and the midfielder may feel that he has gone as far as he can at over-achieving Atletico Madrid.

Koke has been the chief provider to Atletico strikers Diego Costa and David Villa and only Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregas has provided more assists in La Liga action this season.

Man United will also push on with efforts to bring in Portuguese international Coentrao, who now seems the most likely replacement for veteran Patrice Evra given repeated unsuccessful moves to sign Everton star Leighton Baines.

Coentrao has seen Marcelo take the left-back role and Real Madrid are now apparently ready to accept as little as £12.5m for the former Benfica man.

It appears that Moyes does not see Dutchman Alexander Buttner as a viable option to replace Evra, who seems likely to leave at the end of the season when his contract comes to a close.
