With talk of the 28 year old England man being reticent about signing a new deal Blues boss Jose Mourinho will look to ramp up the pressure on the Old Trafford side with a bid for the Man United star.
Rooney has been in fine form this term, scoring regularly as well as being the Premier League’s leading assist maker, this whilst his side have struggled for form and if Man United fail to secure a top four spot then a move away from Man United perhaps becomes all the more likely.
Man United executive chairman Ed Woodward is set to start talks with Rooney’s agent Paul Stretford this month with the forward’s current deal coming to a close in the summer of 2015.
Chelsea could well do with an effective striker to lead their attack and the idea of having Wayne Rooney spearheading the Blues front-line alongside the likes of Oscar and Eden Hazard would certainly be a mouthwatering prospect.
