The 27 year old marksman may well see his place in Pep Guardiola’s starting eleven compromised by the upcoming arrival of Pole Robert Lewandowski, who will move to the Bavarian club at the end of the current campaign.

Mandzukic has been a big success since moving to Bayern Munich 18 months ago, scoring 22 goals in all competitions in his debut season at the Bavarian club, during which then boss Jupp Heynckes secured a treble.

Under Pep Guardiola it’s pretty much been ‘more of the same’ as Bayern Munich have triumphed over all before them, with Mandzukic scoring 13 goals in 25 appearances.

Man United interest in Mandzukic would presumably only be relevant if one or two of the club’s current striking options were to leave Old Trafford.

David Moyes can currently call upon Robin Van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez to fill the club’s striking roles.
