The trio of Amsterdam Arena based stars are seemingly seen as players to take the mantle of veterans Ashley Cole, John Terry and Frank Lampard, all of whom are out of contract at the West London club this summer.

24 year old Swiss born Dutch international Siem De Jong has been a constant source of goals, invention and assists at Ajax over the five seasons and is a player who could perhaps be seen as a viable replacement for 35 year old England man Lampard.

De Jong has netted 56 goals over the course of the past three and a half seasons, helping Ajax to three consecutive Eredivisie titles in the process, though surprisingly has just six national team caps to his name, chiefly because the likes of Wesley Sneijder and Rafael van der Vaart stand in his way in Louis van Gaal’s plans, a high profile move to Chelsea could change all that.

23 year old left-back Daley Blind, son of former Ajax legend Danny, may be well suited to take over from Ashley Cole and could prove a more cost effective option to the continued pursuit of Southampton’s Luke Shaw.

Centre-back Niklas Moisander may, at 28 years of age, be older than his Ajax counterparts but could nonetheless offer Mourinho a strong dependable option at the back.

The Finnish international has followed a circuitous route at Ajax, representing the club from the age of 18 until he moved to first to Zwolle and then AZ Alkmaar before returning to the Dutch giants in August 2012.

Ajax are well versed in selling their best performers to sides in ‘bigger’ leagues, last summer Frank de Boer saw Christian Eriksen and Toby Alderweireld to Tottenham and Atletico Madrid respectively and a move for the trio listed by source to the Premier League is entirely plausible.
