The 22 year old attacking midfielder spent a successful season on loan at Werder Bremen in 2012/13 and has since returned to Stamford Bridge to find first team opportunities limited.
De Bruyne has made just two Premier League starts, the last of which came in late August, and it’s perhaps no surprise that Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho would be ready to accept offers for the former Racing Genk man.
Kevin de Bruyne is keen to secure regular first team football ahead of the summer’s World Cup finals and a move back to Germany may well be the best move for all concerned.
During his spell at Werder Bremen de Bruyne scored ten goals and provided nine assists in 33 appearances and will be looking to replicate this form at Wolfsburg, who currently sit in fifth spot in the Bundesliga table.
