Emirates Stadium side look to bring in impressive defensive midfielder.
Arsenal are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign highly rated Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho according to the Metro.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has scouted the 21 year old on multiple occasions this season and wants to bring in the tough tackler to strengthen his squad.
The Portuguese international has been in excellent form this term, helping his side to mount a genuine Primeira Liga challenge, and has as a result attracted the attention of many potential suitors.
The big burly Angolan born defensive midfielder has provided a steely presence in the centre of the park and is perhaps seen by Arsene Wenger as a potential addition to help add balance to a squad that is perhaps in need of more bite.
Wenger brought back Mathieu Flamini to help in this regard but may feel that Carvalho would provide a more youthful approach and the North London club may look to make the most of Sporting Lisbon’s reported financial difficulties.
The Estádio José Alvalade side were forced to sell a number of their top players last summer with the likes of Ricky Van Wolfswinkel, Bruma and Tiago Ilori leaving for Norwich City, Galatasaray and Liverpool respectively.
A move for Carvalho would certainly adhere to Wenger’s youthful transfer policy and would provide some much needed protection for their more creative talent and one imagines that the rangy midfielder would jump at the chance of a move to the Emirates Stadium.
