The move will see the West London side make a massive £11.3m profit on a player they purchase for £6.7m and has made just two Premier League starts for the club.

Wolfsburg General Manager Klaus Allofs has discussed the imminent move, stating:

“Before Christmas, it was still up in the air as to which Bundesliga club Kevin would switch to, now there’s no longer any doubt.

Despite the big money sale Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has seemingly no intention to make major moves in the transfer market with moves as he is apparently content with his current squad;

“We are happy with the squad we have. This squad is good enough for my first season. If we can improve the squad to prepare the next season, we will do that. But we know where we are, we know what we need for the future.”

Some Chelsea fans may be concerned by the apparent willingness to stick with the striking options in the clubs armoury given that Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba have all struggled for form though Mourinho may simply feel that there are not many viable option to pursue this month, preferring instead to wait until the summer.
