The Cruzeiro duo may be seen as the answer to two problem areas in the Old Trafford squad with Dede being seen as a long term replacement for Rio Ferdinand and Ribeiro considered an option as Moyes looks to bring more creativity to his midfield.

Moyes may well feel he has to bring in new additions in January in view of the fairly disastrous first half of his debut season as Man United boss.

Clearly shopping in January is on the whole something of a risk but with United sitting in seventh spot and some way off the Premier League title chasers, and fighting just to secure a top four finish, Moyes will be forced to bring in reinforcements this month.

Dede has already been capped by the Brazilian national team and is likely to be part of Felipe Scolari’s 2014 World Cup finals squad whereas playmaker Ribeiro is still awaiting his first senior call-up.

A move for Ribeiro could well lead to the possible sale of either Nani or Shinji Kagawa, with both players failing to impress this term.
