The 34-year-old has seen his future become the subject of some heavy speculation over the course of the season and has subsequently been linked with the two Premier League sides.

However, he is due to disappoint both of them by declaring his intent at staying put in Turin and he believed that the matter can be sorted out sooner rather than later by putting pen-to-paper on a new deal before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.

Pirlo joined Juventus from fellow Serie A giants AC Milan in 2011 and has gone on to win two Scudetto’s in that time as well as re-establishing himself as the national team’s most important player.

However, he has signalled his intent to retire from international side after this year’s World Cup in Brazil where he will come up against England during the group stage.
