Argentinian’s only strike so far for his new team came in the Uefa Europa League.

The highly rated Argentina international has so far endured a torrid time with the north London club following his £30m move from Italian giants AS Roma last August.

In fact so far, Lamela has failed to even find the back of the net in any of his nine Premier League outings for his new club, and only once in total in 17 outings for Tottenham this season.

And as a result, rumours have been rife of late linking Lamela with an immediate return to Serie A now that the January transfer window has finally reopened for business for the season, with the likes of champions Juventus, former club Roma and both AC Milan and Inter Milan having so far expressed an interest in signing the 21-year-old this month.

However, it is understood that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is determined that Lamela will be a success in the capital, with the South American having recently been ordered to start taking English lessons on a daily basis.
