The 28 year old Blues bit-part player has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium for some weeks and the recent injury crisis suffered by the North London club appears to have hastened Arsene Wenger’s pursuit of fresh attacking options.

Olivier Giroud has been heavily relied upon to fill the striking berth for the Gunners but has recently suffered with illness whilst back-up forward Nicklas Bendtner is now out injured whilst England international Theo Walcott is now sidelined for the rest of the season, leaving Arsenal very short of options up front.

Demba Ba has barely been used by boss Jose Mourinho and the Senegal international has struggled to hit the same level of form he managed at Newcastle United and West Ham, netting just three goals in 22 Premier League appearances for Chelsea since his move to the club a year ago.

Arsene Wenger has talked up the possibility of signing a new striker and appears to be shifting towards the possibility of any such deal being a temporary one, stating;

“Nothing has changed because we are open to a possible solution and if something interesting turns up we will do it,” Wenger said.

“It could be a loan as well yes, but we are not in talks with Real about anybody.”

Ba has started just two Premier League fixtures this term and is low down the Chelsea pecking order so could perhaps be sent out on loan with a view to offloading the 28 year old on a permanent deal in the near future.
