The Bernabeu side are ready to send youngster Alvaro Morata out on loan in January and Carlo Ancelotti believes his side could do with fresh attacking options and has set his sights on two big name additions.
Blues boss Jose Mourinho may well be ready to consider offers for 25 year old Spanish international Mata even if such an offer came from his former employers.
The Chelsea playmaker, who won the club’s Player of the Year award in both his first two seasons at Stamford Bridge, has struggled for form as he adjusts to the fact that Mourinho doesn’t see him as a guaranteed first team regular, with Eden Hazard and Oscar both preferred as creative midfield options.
Real Madrid’s interest in Colombian hot-shot Falcao would presumably lead to Karim Benzema being sold, which would in turn attract a great deal of attention the way of the French international.
Ancelotti may well feel that the chance to combine Falcao with Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo in a three pronged attack a mouthwatering prospect.
