Chelsea are taking a keen interest in AC Milan pair Mattia De Sciglio and Mario Balotelli as Jose Mourinho looks to make the most of uncertainty at the San Siro.

CaughtOffside understands that Blues boss Mourinho has a long standing interest in both young Italian internationals, which date back to his time at Real Madrid, and with the Italian giants languishing in the wrong half of the Serie A table and having sacked boss Massimiliano Allegri the West London club may feel they could tempt the duo to forcing a move to West London.

Though fan favourite Clarence Seedorf has taken the reins at AC Milan it is highly unlikely that the Rossoneri will secure a Champions League berth for next term, the Italian giants currently sitting in 11th place in the table a full 20 points off the final qualification place, and as such owner Silvio Berlusconi may be forced to sell players to balance the books in view of the lost revenue.

Mourinho knows 23 year old forward Balotelli well from his time in charge at Inter Milan and sees the former Man City man as an ideal option to help boost his ailing attack and by all accounts the striker would be interested in a move back to the Premier League.

Despite AC Milan’s woes Balotelli has continued to score freely since moving back to Italy a year ago, netting 19 goals in 27 Serie A appearances, and may be a player Berlusconi opts to cash in on.

Interest in adaptable full-back De Sciglio is no doubt down to Jose Mourinho jointly looking for a long term replacement for Ashley Cole and a belief that the young Italian could be a better option on the right hand side of defence than either Cesar Azpilicueta or Branislav Ivanovic.

De Sciglio is predominantly used as a right-back but can play on the left hand side of defence and the 21 year old is already a regular in Cesare Prandelli’s Italian national team set-up.

Mourinho is keen to ring the changes and put his own stamp on the Chelsea squad and with a number of players said to be on their way out in the next two transfer windows the Portuguese manager is setting his sights firmly on acquisitions he feels will help him in his push for a new golden era at the Stamford Bridge helm.
