Blues boss Jose Mourinho is clearly keen to retain the services of the England international stars as he seeks to find the right balance of youth and experience and one imagines the West London club will hand one year contract extensions which are likely to be agreed by all parties.

Centre-back John Terry has discovered a new lease of life since Mourinho’s return to Stamford Bridge with the 33 year old being an ever present this season whilst Frank Lampard is still an important member of the first team squad though perhaps not now the first name on the starting eleven team-sheet.

Lampard has made 19 starts in all competitions, scoring five and providing another five assists.

Ashley Cole was frozen out of first team action at the tail end of 2013 but is now back in the fold and may well have proven his commitment to the cause in recent weeks.

All three are Chelsea fan favourites and clearly able to still cut it at the highest level.
