The Merseysiders are currently on the look out for skilful players to feature in the centre of the park, not just for the remainder of this current campaign, but also looking forward to the day when club captain Steven Gerrard eventually decides to call it a day with the Reds.
And the man that Liverpool head coach Brendan Rodgers has reportedly targeted in the winter transfer window is Napoli’s experienced Switzerland international, with Inler once again enjoying another excellent campaign in Naples for the Southern Italians.
Inler has been at the Stadio San Paolo now for the past three years, after initially arriving at Napoli from fellow Serie A outfit Udinese for a transfer fee of 13m euros in the summer of 2011.
And in the intervening period with Napoli, the 29-year-old has gone on to find the back of the net on 10 occasions in total in his 107 matches in all competitions for Rafa Benitez’s men, including seven strikes in his 82 league outings for the club.
