Argentine international Burdisso announced that he intends to leave the club during the January transfer window in a bid to play more and make his way into his national team ahead of the World Cup in Brazil this summer.

And reports in Italy have suggested that his intention to leave could prompt the club to take another look at the Dutch international, who himself is looking for more game time to make it into the Dutch party that will travel to South America in June.

The 30-year-old recently rejected a move to fellow Premier League side West Ham United after he claimed that it would not be a switch that would benefit his career.

However, a switch to the Stadio Olimpico would definitely signify a step in the right direction and it is believed that the Giallorossi are the frontrunners to land his signature.

Heitinga’s current contract with the Toffees is up at the end of the season meaning he would be available for a small fee during this transfer window.
